Unwind

‘Hebu wandugu sikizeni leo tuwaambieni hadithi za Camp Dunda.’ That’s my rendition of John Nyenze’s ‘twist, habari za Nairobi.’ I’m looking forward to a time when I’ll jump on a trampoline or slide down a bouncing castle without being judged. You see the closest I came to a trampoline was during the harvest season whereby after beating the beans to remove them from the pods we’d heap stalks together and jump and somersault all over the place. It was pure niceness just like metro FM used to be.
Camp Dunda is that place that lets you unwind and just travel back in time. Here they use a rope to forecast the weather, hehe that reminds me of Meja’s song, ‘tabia za Wakenya.’ See hata paka mzee hunywa maziwa. There are funny quotes all over like, ‘silence, adults at play, if you are not barefoot, you are overdressed, scream but don’t alert the police, we don’t have wifi, talk to each other and pretend it’s the 1950’s.’
Futher away from the quotes, you take an excursion into the forest and hear the sounds of nature; birds chirp and the river hums, what more would you ask for. You also get to do various fun activities which include but are not limited to the wild swing; my all time personal favourite since I’m an adrenalin junkie, canopy walking, ziplining across the river, mud fun, and archery among others. The cottages are like cabins built with wood and the roof is thatched adding to the traditional ambience. The food is way better than you know what. 😂
Ngaenda hivi ngacheza twist. Ni hayo tu Kwa sasa.
