Stripped

A story was told about Clementina, a girl who applied a lot of powder and makeup. She was looking like a fine gel until it started raining and the raindrops spotted her face until she started looking like a spotted hyena or a guinea fowl. I’m thinking about our society today and how it has evolved and not in a good way.
A good illustration is the recent humiliation of a woman in broad daylight while others were watching and taking videos to upload on tiktok and twitter. As I watched that video, I couldn’t help but wonder if those men have grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives and even daughters. What would happen if the people in this mob were to watch the same thing happen to women close to them? I also can’t help but wonder what the relatives of the said woman felt as they watched that clip of their kin stripped of clothes in broad daylight and she was left at the mercies of the whole world. And to think that all this happened on a day just before the International Women’s Day 2022.
She was not only stripped off her clothes but as each piece was shredded, a piece of her dignity went with it. I mean how are you supposed to continue living as though nothing happened. Depression is real and I’d like to urge y’all to not be the person who pushes someone into that hole.
As I write this, I’m thinking of the song, ‘A Bible and a Belt’ and as the singer concludes that he thinks what the world still needs is a Bible and a belt I can’t help but agree with him. That corporal punishment should be reinstated and the society should start disciplining children as they did long ago.
As this year’s International Women’s Day theme echoes through our minds let’s aspire to stop the bias.
The boda people should call themselves for a kameeting and ask themselves, ‘which way do we go now?’

#StopTheBias.
